7thVagrant is Jorge Marín's main solo project and it's where he decided to let all of his influences roam freely from his mind to the outside world, which is why you may find different styles of music in one place. All of these influences however, come together as a new cohesive style under his own personal touch to everything he composes.
Jorge Marín (born March 04, 1990) comes from the South American country Venezuela, where at the age of 11 he picked up a guitar and never looked back. Growing up with the music that his brothers listened to he got an early grip on alternative rock, while through his father's musical taste pop and latin music made their own spot in his mind and heart as well. As time passed the dedication and love for his instrument and music grew, this lead him to explore farther away from the musical influences of his surroundings and that's when he found himself entangled by progressive and classical music. These new grounds lead to an increased motivation and ambition, music embedded itself within him and he could no longer spend even five minutes without thinking of a new melody. The intricate time signatures, tempo changes, melodic passages and beautiful harmonies became his favorite elements not just in music, but in life.
During his teenage years he contributed with a band of like minded friends whom also loved their instruments and shared a passion for music, they worked hard to be able to play covers of their favorite bands such as Queensryche, Dream Theater, Nightwish, Tool, Rush and King Crimson among others. Being able to play such elaborate music was satisfying, however soon enough Jorge would find that he wanted to move forward and start working on original pieces. This is when he began to write his earliest compositions. Meanwhile he also contributed as session guitarist for some live bands and cover bands, he decided to go back to his roots and realized that music shouldn't be limited to a single style or mindset. He played musical styles that ranged from Foo Fighters to Paramore, Arctic Monkeys to Opeth, Death Cab for Cutie to Yes and The Beatles among many others. That's how he arrived to where his musical mind is now, his compositions blend all of these worlds into one single project, giving equal room to all influences and this will catch the ear of many regardless of their musical background, there will always be something waiting for you in his music that you'll feel familiar with while at the same time discovering new things ready to be grasped and enjoyed.
Jorge is currently based in Canada's city Toronto, where he will reach a wider range of audiences through this project and many other collaborations with different artists. Just as he did when he picked up his guitar at age 11, he is not looking back.
